  • INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT BOOKINGS

If you are traveling from Brazil you can book direct flights from Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo to South Africa, cities of Cape Town or Johannesburg, with either South African Airways or Latam airlines.

Then from South Africa you must book your flight to Botswana with the airline AirLink. There are options as well with Air Botswana or CemAir but we recommend AirLink as they are usually on time.

Ethiopian Airways started flying directly to Maun, Botswana from Addis Ababa in June 2024, if you are interested in stopping in Ethiopia before coming from where you live, have a look at their website.

  • Botswana’s official language is English, but most of the population speaks Setswana as well.

  • SUMMER | Green & Rain | From November until March

Average temperatures ranging from 16-32 degrees C. These months border the rainy season, Jan & Feb, when you may encounter brief but occasionally heavy rain. These months still afford visitors excellent game viewing and you may be lucky to witness the miracle that the rains bring, transforming the dry land to a vibrant abundance of lush greenery. However during November the temperatures can be quite high reaching 45 degrees C. After the first rains the temperatures starts to drop.

AUTUMN | Dry | April and May

Delightful months to visit Botswana marked by moderate temperatures, with average temperatures ranging 15-31 degrees C. Sunny days, blue sky with occasional beautiful clouds.

WINTER | Dry | From June until August

Sunny, cloudless days and mild temperatures ranging from 7-27 degrees C. The landscapes outside the Okavango Delta begin their drying process, gradually fading from lush green to dry khaki colors. In the Okavango Delta the floodwaters from Angola start to fill the countless lagoons and streams.

SPRING | Dry | September and October

September is the best month to enjoy the stunning colours of the wilderness. Artists from all over the world chose this month as their favorite. Temperatures for September average 15-31 degrees C. However October can be very hot particularly towards the end of the month. Temperatures average 20-45 degrees C and you may experience the occasional rain shower towards the end of October. Any discomfort from the heat is offset by the excellent game viewing at this time of year due to the lack of thick vegetation and the water holes are drying up.

    MALARIA

Botswana is a malaria risk area so it is advisable that you take anti-malaria medication. Consult your doctor in this regard. Anti-malarial medication should commence at least a week before leaving for your trip. Precautions such as long-sleeved shirts and jeans for wearing in the evenings will reduce your chances of mosquito bites. Pack some mosquito repellent, cream or spray, for applying to your hands, face and neck. This will help keep the mosquitoes at bay.
